Any Thinkpad R50P owners, want your opinion

Hey guys,

I just got my R50P a week ago, even though it is great upgrade from my A22p, I somehow felt like it was cheaper feeling. What are ur thoughts on it.

The fact that I don't see many posts about the R50P makes me think either ppl don't get it cuz is flawed or something.

I am about to order one myself next week. I think the plastic case may make it feel cheaper in comparison to the older models. What do you think of the screen? How does it perform otherwise?

The screen is fine, don't see much difference compared to my old thinkpad. Will need to get some game to test out is capabilities. As for performance it outperforms my old one of course.

The pluses are :

- lighter to carry
- slimmer than the A series
- more quieter Hard Drive (unless I am getting deaf of old age)
- 2 USB ports (compared to one)

I am happy about it, just the feel is cheap.(like you said 'isthe plastic') But only thing I wished was to little cheaper. I know the brand gives them an excuse to charge higher, but c'mon...the more you sell the better.

Glad you chose one too.

when did you order, and when did you get it?

I just ordered a T41.. well, I ordered it on March 3rd and I'm still waiting... the wait is painful.

Weird but they told me mine was gonna take 4 weeks, but got it in 2 weeks.

R50p

I just got my R50p the other day (with 1G RAM), and I think it's great! The screen looks awesome at 1600x1200, I like the graphics card and the DVD burner too. I don't think it feels cheap at all.

I haven't really tested out the video card too much yet, but in general the system performs very fast - XP boots up completely in under 30 seconds, the fan is so quiet I can barely tell if it's on.

My advice to anyone who likes IBM's, keep your eye on ebay. I got my R50p for a sinfully low price, which I think adds to how much I like it.
