This is basically an upgrade from my second hand M5500, which I upgraded and is still going strong.
My company just needed the software licenses on it and needed it immediately. I wish I could keep it as it was the best laptop I have ever owned, but they are paying me $2400 for it towards this one!

I feel faint, I may be moving into more advanced Phases of this disease.

Should be a good.. uhh, disease.

Looks good, PMan. I know what you mean about the m5500s ... mine is still going strong. The go6600 is a pretty capable gaming card too, even without a dual core processor.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the m5550.

Jumped to stage 5 this morning. I would not be as excited about this for work but they gave me an old dell with minimal stats to get by with. I got so used to having my m5500 with 2.0 Ghz and 2 gb and wides creen to boot. This old dell does not even have wide screen and is definitely not snappy. I like it snappy.

Man that thing will be screamin' fast! Congrats!

I am thinking so, too thanks!
All the way to Phase 8 today. looks like they will ship on 4-02 after all, hope it is not a cruel April Fool's Joke! Still waiting on some confirmation of the phone calls and the tax credit thing still. Since the CC has not been charged I can't tell if they kept their word or not. Their system charged the incorrect tax, when I spoke to a sales person, they confirmed it was wrong.

I am looking forward to stockpiling my software disks this weekend!

Well got the fed ex tracking notification. Rats it is a day late in shipping. I just hope there are no problems getting here this week. I do not want to have to go through another weekend with this junker that work gave me.

Made it to and through Memphis on its way to Jackson MS. SO close I probably would have met it somewhere. It is most likely here in town already.

Enjoy it, when it comes, will there be a review in the future?

I finally got it just seconds before a 2 hour conference call. I had begun to unpack it midway and at least got it in my sight.
This will be a beast of a rig for me. I feel a little sad, as I had grown attached to my second hand m5500. The color and matte screen fit me perfectly. She will be missed. I will get used to this one in no time flat I bet!

Thanks to everyone for all the love, I think I may be cured.

Thanks Fallen! You should be nearing a big jump in Phases soon. The more I use good computer hardware the easier life is. That old Dell inspiron would not sync with the Dell PDA I have. But both my AWs don't even pause to think about it much.
It rocks. I will have to post my observations later on this weekend as I will be stuck in the hotel for yet another holiday.

Pman have you been experieincing any random shutdowns or heat issues on your m5550?

Nothing. I have not really had the chance to put it to the test though. Mostly just business apps and email though. I have not even checked the bios or the put on any apps to check the temps yet. I did put in a couple of hours of Oblivion this weekend but not enough to get it hot in my opinion.
