I read on here somewhere about someone successfully putting a m1710 keyboard into a 6000 or a 14" machine. Apparently the form factor for 1405, 1505 1501 and the 1710 are all the same. So I ordered the keyboard, it arrived and fits perfectly into the laptop. The problem is the ribbon that plugs in to the MB connector. I took my original keyboard out, and removed the ribbon from the connector. It has a thick clear plastic backing, that seats it in the connector. I went to put the new keyboard in, and it does not have that, and it looks like the connecting part of the ribbon is on the other side. Can't really tell. I know when I put the ribbon in the connector, it falls right out. So I put some clear tape on the back, similar to where the clear plastic piece is on mine, and it stays in but still doesn't work. Do I need to get a 1710 connector? Are they different, like switched around? I'm a little confused. They keyboards look identical other than color, so I figured it to be a simple switch....
