___Need info on w2v___

I am considering purchasing this from newegg and the total price comes to be about $1500. It seems a bit steep because some of its specs are dated but I really like the thin/light construction and I love the asthetics. Do you guys think it is worth $1500 right now or if someone is selling one used? thanks

specs summary

that seems a bit high, considering the W2Jb (next model in the series, includes dual core CPU and x1600 vid card) is only a couple hundred more.

I agree with Djembe...if I buy a new baby right now, I will better consider a DUAL CORE processor for future applications, good for Vista and multitasking etc and the new graphics like x1600 also have better performances...

Single core laptop for $1500's steep even considering it's a W2. I'd definitely invest in a dual core laptop.

I think one advantage this has over the w2j is that it is 1440x900 and w2v is 1650x1050. I will be doing video editing. How much better are dual cores compared to the regular centrinos? And is anyone here selling a used w2v?

Take a look at this comparison report on CPU Benchmarks ( I like it, even if I can't follow all the tech. standards for the test)...
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Processors-Benchmarklist.2436.0.html

I used to work for Dell and a tech guy explained it like: the thing is, that a DUAL core can theoretically handle at once the double of datas in comparison to a Centrino. It is not faster in clockspeed, but because it has a larger bandwidth (2x) it can push much quicker the datas through (similar to a highway and a national road). I.e. a 2.0GHZ acts like 2x2.0 GHZ centrino.
Anyhow, this is great for multitasking and for hard applications (especially games I guess). For video editing, I'am not shure if there is already an impact, but it's a question for the future (next will be mobile quadro processors and so on...and then what?)

your answer to why its 1500 dollars is in bold and at the top of this post

so yes, you can get a dual core better vid card for the price of the single core one (however if i were you id get the 1500 dollar one with dual core/x1600) but dell and hp are full of cheap parts and plastics, thats more than enough for me to want that laptop (the asus)
