Playing games with 7900gs on battery

Hey guys, anyone have any idea on how to set up a quickset that allows me to get the same performance from my 7900gs as when its plugged in. When its plugged in i get about 50fps on company of heros...when i try it on battery(powermizer off, maximum performance quickset) I get about 10fps..what other settings do i need to do? Thanks for the help.

There should be something in quickset like maximun performance that can be click, also I think nvida has a thing called power miser or something that slows down the GPU to get more batt life.

He listed that he used both of those in his original post...I mean I've never wanted to do this as I dont even want to game on battery but I guess you could make the throttle clocks of your graphics card the same as the 3d clocks (may want to change the voltage as well). As I dont have my drivers set up correctly now nor do I have a 7900gs I cannot guarantee this working but it should. If your drivers are setup properly, you shouldn't lose a drastic amount more of battery life unless you are in 3d mode...By properly I mean use 2d clocks on desktop and throttle or 3d clocks in 3d applications depending on whether or not the power adapter is plugged in.

i assume that i would do this through atitool?

Its not possible, your battery does not put out 130W to your laptop like you AC adapter does. I looked into this a while ago.

To be exact you battery puts out 11.1V (assuming you have a 9cell battery)

Your AC adapter puts out a whopping 19.5V. You do the math

u think lowering the rez and 3d settings will help or is this a problem at any rez? Ill try it out

If you lower the resolution and turn the grpaics down all the way, of course it will help.

Yes, you could use an external battery that can deliver 20V at 7 amps sustained. And some wheel plus a carrying handle, for it But seriously, if weight is not an issue and mobility is (eg, in a car) then an inverter is likely to be a suitable solution. Even worse; When I keep my 7900gs overclocked too high on battery; the whole laptop will just shut down during games because the battery cannot keep up. The battery isnt drained, just overloads I guess, because you can restart the machine after taking the battery out and reinserting it. LOL

Your battery is capable of providing 7.2 amps of current for 1 hour @ 11.1 volts (of course it will get a little warm).

..If your computer is shutting down as soon as you switch to battery power while playing a game you have other problems... I would look at the health of the batttery.

Use rivatuner to see what clocks your card is using in 3d mode on battery...Sometimes, depending on drivers and bios your card can do some unique things...Anyway, you wouldnt be able to flash all the way up to ac 3d settings but you could get close in case you still wanted to do that...Personally, I've never really wanted to game on battery as most times I'm on battery I don't even have my mouse

i played counter strike today with battery, using a bluetooh mouse and headset, and wifi on...my 9 cell battery lasted me almost an hour. i think its pretty good that it can last that long. especially since the fans come on high speed. brightness all the way up
