M60 & D800 USB Key Drive flashBIOS Utility
For those M60 & D800 notebook owners that have access to a USB Flash drive, I uploaded a small DOS file that will allow you to flash between the M60 and D800 BIOS. Since these notebook system boards are identical, you could operate on either BIOS. The M60 BIOS could be flashed onto a D800 to enable support for the Quadro FX Go1000 for example or the D800 BIOS could be flashed onto a M60 to enable support for port replicator docking features and it is a newer 3/1/04 flashBIOS than the M60.
Warning: Unnecessary flashing of your BIOS is not recommended due to the unlikely chance the flash routine may fail rendering your notebook unusable. Although flashing the BIOS via DOS is much safer than attempting in Windows, this is reserved for advanced users only...USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
Note: The I8600 is not supported by either BIOS. Attempting to flash the I8600 with the /forcetype switch just doesn't work. Thanks to forum member MNguyen281 for pointing out that the /forcetype DOS command switch could be used to flash the D800 BIOS onto the M60 and vice versa. Enjoy!
