Hauppauge always has made excellent tuners.

Here is a review. Has a few minor issues, but considering it's size & ability to decode OTA HD channels... I might get one

Thank you for your reply Solapathy. My goal is to be able to play my playstation 3 on my laptop using the tv tuner. will the Hauppauge WinTV HVR 950 USB 2.0 allow me to do this?

I recommend the Onair GT HDTV tuner, especially if you have the 1920x1200 Truelife LCD. It's USB powered (not AC powered) and a compact unit (about the size of a large desktop mouse) so it's basically made for use with laptops.

It receives and records OTA HD channels. It also has A/V input, so you can play the PS3 with it on your laptop. It also comes with an OEM version of nvidia's Purevideo HD encoder. I use this thing everyday to record my favorite shows.

Beware; you may be disappointed playing any console through a TV tuner. The tuner will probably add a large amount of latency between the console producing an image and it being displayed on the screen. It may be unplayable, so TRY BEFORE YOU BUY.
