Will my macbook pro support 3GB of RAM?

Ok I got the macbook pro; now it says it's the intel core 2 Duo; so does that mean it will support 3GB of RAM; as it says on the apple website- I thought I got the one before the intel core 2 duo... but that's what it says... so reckon it will?

Thanks in advance for any help

Ok just because it says Core 2 Duo on the website doesn't mean you have it. I could have a really older dell laptop with like a Pentium M and if I see an ad on Dell talking about the updated version of my laptop and they say "New Intel Core 2 Duo Processor!" that doesn't mean I have C2D in my laptop. Look at system preferences/properties, and see if it says Core Duo or Core 2 Duo.
EDIT: I'm wrong, look at Kakaze's post. So only C2D supports 3 GB it seems

Yea basically what I was trying to say was I was confused as I thought I have purchased the model BEFORE the Intel core 2 Duo came out and therefore could not use 3GB of RAM but when I look at about this mac it says that it is in fact the Intel Core 2 Duo so I wanted to check that this does mean that I can use 3GB or RAM so that I don't wast like £250

Only C2D can support 3 gigs due to the fact they're 64 bit—well, technically the CD could as well but they're hampered by hardware restrictions.
