Unsatisfaction with m5790: pictures

I got the laptop today and I am happy with it at all. I am seriously considering returning it back. Here are things I am not happy about:

- the keyboard pad is way too warm, it makes my palms all sweaty, quite uncomfortable.
- when the put the full keyboard, they had to squize the buttuons. I do not care about having the numbers on the right side since I never do data entry. Instead the buttons that i use the most are too narrow: right Shift, Period, Arrows.
- monitor could be a bit brighter
- packing could be better

plus, after paying $100 for shippin here is what I got:

I'd recommend sending it back within the return period if you aren't happy with it. The keypad shouldn't be that hot. Re the keys being "squished" - you would probably adapt to it if you liked the notebook, but otherwise ... it will continue to bother you.

The packaging does not look right. I'd be concerned someone opened it somewhere during the shipping process (unlikely, but I've not seen the inner black box mashed up like that before). I've received to AW notebooks, and the black boxes have been pristine.

Sorry you've had an unsatisfactory experience, but better to deal with it now and get your $$ back.

That is a real unusual packing job by AW, I have seen a LOT of pictures of boxes recieved and the three I got myself as well and non from atleast a hundred has looked like this.

alo if you guys look at the shipping label, it is actually on separate piece of cardboard, taped to the box. I am not really sure what happene.

That packing job don't look right at all, as above have said they do a great job in that respect. I don't know if that would have anything to do with you not liking the laptop, but as shazza said it's best to get the wheels turning on that rather than wait too long. I would show them the pics of the package, never know what might come of it.

Looks like some guy at FedEx got a little curious about a shiny new AW lappy...

damn sorry man,
but seriously i still have my aw boxxes from 2 years ago, and there not even as bad as that

wow mine came just as the black box (could open it etc) which I thought was messed (maybe they inspected it crossing the boarder to Canada for mine?), but at least it looked good / in shape hehe, yours someone opened played soccer with then reclosed it.... no way Alienware would send it looking like that. Maybe call fedex and ask them wtf hehe

Where do you live? It looks like someone opened that package and repackaged it, especially with the shipping label on a second piece of cardboard. Alienware wouldn't let a package leave Miami like that...

The laptops have that internal black box that fits into a brown cardboard box that's just big enough to hold the inner box. That is not the way AW ships laptops...

If FedEx damages a box with water, or dropping it, they open it and inspect it to make sure the contents weren't damage, then repack it so I'm sure that's what happened....

As for the laptop itself, the keyboard will get a little warm, but shouldn't get hot. Make sure the fans are working.

The keys are "squished" to fit the number pad on that platform. It's a big selling point for some.

The brightness of the screen can be adjusted through advanced settings in the driver settings.

You should at least send these pics to Alienware, they need to find out from the shipper what the heck happened. They may offer you some Best Buy bucks or something to compensate you for the disappointment.

Wow..yea man, I would not be pleased with that box. You have to contact FedEx and Alienware ASAP. As for the warm keyboard, and small keys, you get used to it, you really do. At first I really thought it was going to annoy me, but, I've since grown accustom to it.

I hope you reach some sort of resolve.

Also, if somebody really opened the box and took it out, they did a terrible job of covering their tracks. It's like they weren't even trying.

Unless you live overseas and had some overenthusiastic customs agents, that pack job looks extremely suspicious.

i live in midwest. The keyboard hand rest is not hot, but it is warm enough to get my hands sweat.

That's not abnormal. My wrist area gets a bit warm during use too. It's to be expected from the hardware inside. The heat, however, does not bother me in the slightest bit.

Call AW or FedEx now! That looks pretty fishy, looks like somebody "tried" to repackage it...

its an anomaly in things for stuff to get screwed like that... this looks to me like someone at fedex thought they would see what is in the nice AW box and went in for a look. trust me there are hundreds of thousands of people who dont have those issues.

Please keep us updated. I'm curious to hear the outcome.
