Dot Point Gaming laptop

Hello everyone

I am looking for a notebook that can be used for gaming BUT one requirement is that it has a dot point on the keyboard,

anyone know of such a notebook?

Dell Latitude and Lenovo Thinkpad are the only brands that offer the trackstick anymore. Toshiba used it in the past but even they've gone strictly touchpad (I beleive they're cheaper to make). Best bet for gaming would be the T60P thinkpad or the Latitude D820 The T60p has a FireGL that is supposedly an X1700 equivalent. The D820's Quadro 120M is the equivalent of a GeForce Go 7400. The only reason I didn't mention the Dell precision M65 is because it has the same GPU as the upgraded D820.

that is the dot point

I believe that HP business notebooks still come with dot points. but again, none support quality graphics options. I dispise the touch pad, and really the only reason I still mostly have desktops is because of the lack of non touch pad options, but I am being forced into getting a notebook for more then just forum posting and e-mailing which is what my Dell inspiron 630m has been.

but I am having no luck, and am truely considering building my own notebook if I can find a dot point barebone setup

I thought they were called track points --- I can't stand touchpads

Yes, HP Business notebooks also have trackstick / track point / nubbin / dot point / stick thingy.

Through my own research, I've found that IBM owns the patents on the trackpoint. Odds are they charge exorbitant licencing fees to Dell and HP. As such you'll only find the trackpoint in systems that are in the same market segment as Thinkpads (which gaming notebooks do not). So your options are limited to Thinkpad, Latitude, Precision Mobile, and HP Business notebooks.

I doubt you won't see ANY gaming laptops with the trackstick any time soon. The closest you can get is the Thinkpad T60p whose FireGL is the equivalent to an X1700 Radeon. Most gamers will just use a mouse with the system and not care much about the touchpad.

for gaming I would use the mouse, but for websurfing needs hate the touchpad, and a mouse sucks on a lap.
