Will XGA(17.1) 1705 dell have a larger resolution than the 1505(15.1)?

Thread Starter
I have just spent a few days researching laptops for school and what is really important to me is to have a high resolution/large monitor because I usually stare at computer 8 hours a day and I don't want to strain my eyes.

I've just bought the dell 1705 with the default XGA+TFT display. The sales lady assured me it has a higher resolution than the 1505. I'm now reading posts here tonight just trying to assuage my anticipation for the laptop goodness when I read this post: http://www.notebookforums.com/thread161561-8.html#108

Does this mean the 1705's 17 inch LCD will have the same max resolution as the 1505's 15 inch LCD?

If this is the case what would you suggest? The computer is still being built and I dont have any more money to upgrade to the superdisplay LCD.

The standard display for the 1705 is the 1920x1200...the lower res 1440x900 drops the price another $150.<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD>

go there and then select "side by side"

At home there are both laptops, mine is E1705 and my father's Inspiron 6400(E1505), here are the facts:

- E1705 has WXGA+ (1440x900)
- E1505 has WXGA (1280x800 or something like that)

Hope this helps.

If you don't want to strain your eyes, you don't want the high-res monitor anyways (it makes everything tiny).

You can always increase the size of screen fonts on a WUXGA (1920x1200) or UXGA (1600x1200) LCD to ease any issues of eyestrain.

Keep in mind that for some apps, especially CAD, a freaky high resolution LCD is highly recommended.
