Ubuntu and Wireless

My friends always told me that wireless cards on laptops are almost never recognized out of the box.

Is it true ?

And if the wireless card is not recognized out of the box is it possible to find drivers on the internet to make it work ?

( I am thinking about buying a laptop with an Internal IntelĀ® Wireless 4965 a/b/g/Draft-N Mini-Card )

not sure about the N cards, but nearly all A, B, and G cards get love right off the bat. i am sure if even there is no native linux driver, ndiswrapper should work for you. Your friend is indeed pretty stupid... atheros, intel, and prism make up most of the wifi market and they all have native linux support and all are set up out of the box by ubuntu.

Incorrect, misinformed, wrong - any of these words would have made your point just as well, and would have been better choices than your obnoxious, insulting use of "stupid."

Thank you for your response,

I googled ndiswrapper and this things seems pretty complicated to install. I am a total noob when it comes to linux and one of the main reasons I plan dual booting it on my laptop is beacause of the system stability and security.

you said ubuntu right....
Code:
sudo apt-get install ndiswrapper
doesn't seem like a very difficult command to execute
