I bought this machine a little over a year ago. It has performed phenomenally in that time. It has minimal wear and tear. I haven't even taken the plastic off the lid! The screen is in perfect condition, no dead pixels or scratches. Never had heat issues as I've taken very good care of it. I've done several dust cleaning maintenances. I am obsessive compulsive so the machine has been kept VERY clean. The only issue I've had is with the SD Card reader. It hasn't work for me recently. I'm not sure if it's due to the fact I'm running Linux now, so it may possibly work in windows. CF slot works fine which is the only other media slot I've used. I'm also including the carry case which is pretty worn. I still use it, but it's gotten quite a bit of use.

I will also be throwing in these two extras:
Audigy2 ZS Notebook pcmcia card with cables
Antec Cooling Pad

I am selling because I am about to start a job that requires a much more portable laptop, sadly. Realize that this is a high performance “gaming” laptop. It's not very portable and the fans can get loud (depending on your perspective) during heavy use. The machine does NOT come with windows. I will, however, put on any free OS of your choice (Linux, BSD, etc.) This machine supports Linux very well, no WiFi issues. If you want linux I will set it up completely for you with all the nifty BERYL 3d desktop effects. If you want me to install Windows just send me the media and serial number and i'll load it for you or you can add additional $ for a winxp license and i'll buy one for you.

I did have windows on this machine shortly just to test gaming performance. The GPU overclocks VERY well. Here were my results: 475mhz core, 1.31ghz memory. Coolbits test passed at these settings after running 3dMark '05. This machine uses an Athlon X2 4800+ processor. This processor is faster than the P4's and the Core Duos. Core2 Duos are a bit bit faster, but this machine has a better 64bit support if you choose to run a 64bit OS.

A quick note about the hard drives on this machine... I have two PATA 7200rpm drives. These are not common and were only available to people who purchased the 9750 when they first came out. The disadvantage is that you can't do the pseudo-hardware raid. The advantage is that you don't need a floppy driver disk when installing windows and it may improve overclocking. Apparently, enabling the SATA raid limited overclocking abilities. There is no performance difference between the two drive types.

Shipping costs are additional and will be whatever UPS/FedEX charges me. I also suggest adding insurance. If you're near or in NJ you're welcome to pick up. I'm in the Philadelphia area.

NEW PRICE: $1,550.00!!

BTW, I'm a long standing member here and you can usually find me over in the linux forums.

(Notice the plastic is still on the brushed metal)

For those that are not familiar with Sager, this machine is IDENTICAL to the Alienware Aurora m7700 ( http://www.mobiletechreview.com/note...rora-m7700.htm ) and the Hypersonic Aviator FX7 ( http://www.hypersonic-pc.com/FX7/ ).

Hey, bigtrouble

I'm interested. I do have a couple of questions:
  • Does this machine have an express card (type 54/34)
  • Have you had trouble with the cooling of this notebook? I mean with such mean CPU and GPU inside, does it ever cause any problem.
  • What is exactly is the Antec Cooling Pad, is it an active cooler?
  • Did the SD card work initially when you tested it in windows?
  • Which version of NV driver did you use to get Beryl working?
  • And lastly, as with all large purchases, references are extremely important. Do you have anything like Heatware or Beerology, I didn't see any? If I missed it in your post, then I apologize.

I'm a long time member at notebookforums as well, but I'm not here that often these days. So is you want to reach me quickly, you can email me at chenli(DOT)21(AT)gmail(DOT)com

take care

No, I don't believe any of the D900 machines have one.

No troubles at all. In fact, while running linux I've never had a system crash requiring a reboot. The machines generally idles at 40*C. Now, this is a DTR so it will get pretty warm with heavy gpu use, but that's the case with any machine in this class. I do want to say that the 9750's have not had the motherboard problems that the 9860, 9880 and 9890 have had.

Only reason I'm selling is because I'm not doing graphics work anymore. With all the travelling I'm doing this isn't the best solution for me anymore. Plus I need to do testing in OSX so I need to get a macbook (of course i'll be running linux on that too ).

It's that silver thing with the USB cable sticking out of it in the pics. It has fans that direct air flow away from under the laptop. So the laptop just sits on top of it. It's not needed, but helps airflow a little.

Yeah, it did. I have a usb sdcard reader that I could throw in.

Running 2.1.0 NVIDIA 96.31. It's the standard restricted driver in the Feisty repos. If you'd be interested in the machine with linux I could set all of that up for you, not that it's hard.

I don't have any references from those places as this would be my first trade/transaction (other than ebay). My ebay account, which is currently not active has a perfect rating (http://myworld.ebay.com/damn!/). I've been an active member here for a very long time... most of my posts have been in the sager/linux/hypersonic forums. I know some people here have been burned, so I'll do whatever I can to assuage these concerns.

Hey, bigtrouble, most of these look really good. Not having an express card slot is a bummer, but that's probably something that I can live with with a work around. Also, it's great that you offer to set up the OS; if we end up doing this deal, I may just ship an XP disk over to you, for you do install dual boot XP and Ubuntu Feisty for me.

That is an issue. Given the current information, I don't think I can quite do the deal, given the amount of payment involved and the situation with the references. Maybe there is something that can be worked out that would ensure both of our safety; it would have to be a pretty creative solution though.

LMK if you have any ideas.

I have officially listed this machine on ebay so this thread can be closed. If you are interested I posted a link to my ebay account on the first page and I'm sure you can find my listing from there. Thanks Boomheadshot for the support!
