I bought this machine a little over a year ago. It has performed phenomenally in that time. It has minimal wear and tear. I haven't even taken the plastic off the lid! The screen is in perfect condition, no dead pixels or scratches. Never had heat issues as I've taken very good care of it. I've done several dust cleaning maintenances. I am obsessive compulsive so the machine has been kept VERY clean.
The only issue I've had is with the SD Card reader. It hasn't work for me recently. I'm not sure if it's due to the fact I'm running Linux now, so it may possibly work in windows. CF slot works fine which is the only other media slot I've used. I'm also including the carry case which is pretty worn. I still use it, but it's gotten quite a bit of use.
I will also be throwing in these two extras:
Audigy2 ZS Notebook pcmcia card with cables
Antec Cooling Pad
I am selling because I am about to start a job that requires a much more portable laptop, sadly. Realize that this is a high performance “gaming” laptop. It's not very portable and the fans can get loud (depending on your perspective) during heavy use. The machine does NOT come with windows. I will, however, put on any free OS of your choice (Linux, BSD, etc.) This machine supports Linux very well, no WiFi issues. If you want linux I will set it up completely for you with all the nifty BERYL 3d desktop effects. If you want me to install Windows just send me the media and serial number and i'll load it for you or you can add additional $ for a winxp license and i'll buy one for you.
I did have windows on this machine shortly just to test gaming performance. The GPU overclocks VERY well. Here were my results: 475mhz core, 1.31ghz memory. Coolbits test passed at these settings after running 3dMark '05. This machine uses an Athlon X2 4800+ processor. This processor is faster than the P4's and the Core Duos. Core2 Duos are a bit bit faster, but this machine has a better 64bit support if you choose to run a 64bit OS.
A quick note about the hard drives on this machine... I have two PATA 7200rpm drives. These are not common and were only available to people who purchased the 9750 when they first came out. The disadvantage is that you can't do the pseudo-hardware raid. The advantage is that you don't need a floppy driver disk when installing windows and it may improve overclocking. Apparently, enabling the SATA raid limited overclocking abilities. There is no performance difference between the two drive types.
Shipping costs are additional and will be whatever UPS/FedEX charges me. I also suggest adding insurance. If you're near or in NJ you're welcome to pick up. I'm in the Philadelphia area.
NEW PRICE: $1,550.00!!
BTW, I'm a long standing member here and you can usually find me over in the linux forums.
