Battery Auto Learning questions

Hi, Why does my my auto learning vary from time to time?

What I did was charge the battery, then ran the autolearn.

My Mah was 6500 & now it's at 5900!

I have discharged & charged it a few times & it has varied allot, but has never gone back up to the 6500 I saw once.

Also, even when the battery is fully charged, it seems to take a long time to learn!

So why does it vary so much & why does it not go back up to the 6500 I had?

battery life and performance do go down with time and usage - i doubt that one can expect to "revive" it back to any previous (original) output as time goes. Only thing one can hope for is that the wear down factor stabilizes

cheers ...

I understand that. Both the original 8 cell & the 12 cell I'm currently trying to autolearn have roughly the same amount of time & useage on them. I guess I was not too clear in what I was asking & referring to in my original post. My 12 cell battery was at 96% before I ran the autolearn. At 96% the Mah was 6500. After the autolearn it was at 6100, after that it was 6000, after that it was 5900. Right now it's at 5800. All this in just 2 days & it takes hours for it to autolearn, even when the battery is at 100%. The computer is an 8510 GZ & the autolearn is version 1.20. So is the autolearn killing my battery or should I just charge it & be done with it? BTW, the reason I was doing this is that I want to take a picture of the screen with the 12 cell at 100% showing how many hours are available & one of the 8 cell showing the same thing so that prospective buyers can see the difference.

Just charge it and be done with it. Modern Li-Ion/Li-poly batteries do not beneift from being cycled like older NiCad and NiMH batteries did. Li-Ion/Li-poly batteries like staying charged whenever possible.

ouch, just make sure that u write a DISCLAIMER (stating it is only being used for reference ONLY) - it might come back and haunt u should the buyer decides that it does not fit his/her expectations

use Thunder_PC statement/response as a good explanation of laptop battery performance for ur advert

cheers ...
