Dell Windows MCE 2005 DVD install/script issue?

Thread Starter
So, been playing around with my m1210 for sometime now, and finally decide to laydown the original image that Dell shipped with it.

Inserted the Media Center OEM CD from Dell, for the m1210 (the orange'ish one), and everything works fine...

UNTIL:

It gets to the "notouch" portion of the installation, where Dell is laying down all of the Windows MCE applications, etc. It runs and runs and runs, and eventually hangs...

Cannot find file C:\DELL\BONUS\..\...\gemreg.inf

Like some GEM game registry file or something... then there are several of these, all on \SAMPLES, stuff that isn't really all that important...

So, I kill noTouch, "ignore" these errors to allow the scripts to keep running, they do... eventually running a C:\DELL\cleanup.bat, cleaning the registry and the install files, etc.

Everything seems fine, but I verified that Windows MCE 2005 is what ships with the system, yet I show Windows MCE 2002. So, obviously not all the scripts ran, to update the version, or something...

Anyone ran into this weird one?

Only thing I can think that is different is the A06 BIOS update, since I've bought this.... not sure that that, would cause their OEM batch files to hang eventually while installing their Apps.

Any help would be appreciated... thanks!

Hi,

My name is John, and I work at Dell headquarters.

Try downloading and installing the following rollup. It may just correct that problem:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

let me know how it goes!
