fan noise/palmrest heat with XPS

To the XPS owners,

Do you have the same issues as the Sager 8790 owners with loud fan noise
and warm palm rests or is the XPS designed better for heat dissipation?

Can some of you use the notebook on a bed or on your thighs without burning yourself or causing loud fan noises or the unit shutting down?

Thanks,

Steve

its difficult to burn your thighs you should be more worried about blood circulation being cut off by the little stubs

I use my notebook in bed and on my lap all the time. stays cool, the only things that get warm are the exhaust ports in the back - and even that air isn't hair-singing hot. My Toshiba s607 piped out hotter air than this xps does.

The fans are pretty quiet for the most part, they spin up faster "as needed", in fact they seem to completely stop (or spin REALLY slowly) when not stressing the CPU/GPU making the notebook nearly silent.

Palmrest/keyboard stays "cold", not affected by system heat at all.

I second what Karl said--I use mine in bed sometimes and it is no problem.
