Anyone play this game on their Alienware ??
I can't run max setting on this game somehow ... it gets choppy for some reason ... and it won't let me use my powerstrip color as well .... weird

Yea i got the game yesterday and it runs great..for some reason when i try to autodetect what my system can handle it sets everything to low, but i manually put them on very high and it works great at 800x600 res. It can get a little choppy when i'm running at a higher res.

what are your specs? i'm using a 3.2 ghz, 1 gig ram, radeon 9600 pro 128 mb.

powerstrip color settings have screwed up a few games for me, i have problems with games freezing if i have powerstrip set at anything but the default color settings.

3.0 Ghz , 1 gig ram and Radeon 9600 , this is the 1st game I can't run max setting with 1600 x 1400

I can't stand playing game on 800x600 .... now I have everything on medium at 1280x1024

I was able to run the demo at 1600X1200 with everything on high...is the retail version that taxing that it gets choppy on lower res'. Whoa! Wait for the 9700! BTW, I think I am the only person who didn't care for this game...I am all about the new SPLINTER CELL!!!
:cheers;

you can´t possibly have been running this game on 1600x1200 with everything on high, and not suffered from choppyness... that is just not possible...
even those bastards with 9800XT cards aren´t able to do that...

I have a 9800XT in my desktop, and I can't run it that high.

FarCry just put out a patch, and most of the technical tweaks were ONLY for Nvidia cards.

Sorry to break it to you...but yeah I was running it at 1600X1200 with everything high in the DEMO...it was not choppy but felt a little slow...

http://notebookforums.com/showthread.php?t=15379

Read the first post (2/9/04) which says the same thing...it was not choppy just slow-the response time...

hmmmm.... strange... on the first demo i had to be at 800x600 with everything on medium to get it to run perfectly.... second demo i could go up to 800x600 with high in everything.... full game, i can run it at very high on everything at 800x600...

I don't know what to tell you...maybe you need to free up some sys resources or more RAM (if you don't already have 1gb)...strange...still can't say I cared for the game though...

My Jenny crashed 6 times before I could run the demo ...

Auto Detect detects everything as LOW (INSULT!!!!)

And there was my mate, next to me happily running the game on his Toshiba with a Nvidia FX5200go (32mb) (with 256ram and a P4 2.6 ghz)

no it´s not a problem with my computer, it´s a problem with the game...
i´ve got lots of friends with nice computers, sporting 9800XTs and everything that is good. none of them can run it at 1600x1200 and recieve a playable framerate (which should be more than 30fps ATLEAST)

btw. that game is wonderful. not in the beginning, but after a while you really gets sucked into it... wonderful!

I played on on high at 1600 by 1200 on my flight today (Portland, OR to Pensacola,FL) with no chop. I think some of the passengers may have been a little freaked First Class to boot. I was the only guy with an AW. Everyone else had an IBM or Dell.

I can runs it on high with 1600x1400 in most area , but there're still some point that it will get choppy maybe for like 2 sec or so .....

So at the end I just turn it with lower res and have much much better frame rate all the time
post #16 of 38
for me. running everything at maxed, it gets REALLY choppy even on 1280x1024...
that is everything on very high, water on ultra high... low AA...
and with REALLY choppy i mean unplayable...

I completely agree. I played the demo and didn't likeit that much; the controls felt loose and I didn't enjoy the gameplay.

Go Splinter Cell!

Is anyone playing Far Cry with the nvidia card??? I have to have all the advanced video options on the lowest setting to make it playable at any resolution - anyone else out there with the nvidia to compare with??
