and with REALLY choppy i mean unplayable...

I hate to butt into the AW forums with my "opinions" but you guys are being unrealistic!!

1280X1024 is not a resolution to joke about. Even the Radeon 9800 PRO in my friends desktop with a P4 3.0 ghz CPU and 1024MB of DDR400 RAM chokes at that resolution.

The best resolution is 1024X768 with all settings high. You will like it better this way..great textures, nice res and smooth gameplay.

BTW - I have both Splinter cell and Far Cry. They are two entirely different games that simply cannot be compared. I like them both...

For some reason I really didnt care too much for the first FC demo. but the second one changed my mind. I later learned the cryengine was tweaked for the second demo. and from what i hear from all FC full version owners is Gold is worth the money. There is still always room for optimization. These maps are gigantic. The cryengine is going to be one to beat and its going to be a while for that to happen. i guess thats just my opinion. I later went back to demo 1 and I even ended up liking that one too.

Sorry to bring up an old topic but I have a few questions:

- I know how to change the rendering options, but in the dropdown menu states that the option is not supported. The manual comments that a certain graphical settings must be on or above 'medium' for rendering to be available. Well I have eveything on very high/high @ 1024x768 - Runs nicely btw But I cannot select any variations in rendering. Is there anyway around this?

- Do any of you have a fine white line at the very bottom of your screen when you play Far Cry? I have learnt to ignore it, but it is annoying. The fine white line does not appear in any other games I run

I'm running Far Cry 1.1V and a 15.4" screen - If anyone can shed some light on the above matters, then I'd appreciate it very much

I noticed you were using 16bit color depth in your first JPEG. I'm sure 32bit would have made a difference.

I agree with Jamaster 14, I purchased them both and finished Splinter Cell and now am soley on Far Cry. They both make you think, but Splinter Cell is more stealth, where as Far Cry is guns ablazing.

I want to second the people who have said you need to run it at 800x600 all medium to get smooth play (I put terrain detail on high to see the grass).

This has been my experience with the game.

It looks rad at that resolution to me -I need to remind myself however that consoles run at 640x480 .

My system is P4 3.2, 1 gig RAM (pc3200), ATI 9600 pro => when I get it back from repair that is, because the losers sent me a bad motherboard.

I've set all the graphical options to very high except for shadows, which are set at medium - They're not important At a resolution of 1024x768 Far Cry runs perfectly for me

Guess those extra 2 gigs really make a difference. I really should have sprung for 'em.

I have the 5600go, plays good
I'm running it at 800x600, maxxed out. It still looks real good.

I just beat the game this morning, weird ending

Wow im only on level 5! I got a ways to go!
Yep, it's pretty long for a shooter. The last 2 levels are very hard as well.
