Z71V CD/DVDW Drive Firmware?

Thread Starter
Whenever I attempt to copy a DVD, my DVD drive only burns at a rate of 20-40 kb/s when the speed is set at 8x. Does Vista require a DVD drive firmware update? If so, could anyone link me to the newest firmware update for my drive, TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L532A ATA Device...please? Thank you!!

you can get it from here: http://www.asustreiber.de/

it's the German Asus site, but the firmware install is in English.

Check if your Transfer Modes are on DMA. Go to the Device Manager --> IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller

Open the properties page for all the devices listed under there. Go to the "Advanced Settings" tab, and make sure everything is on a Ultra DMA Mode of some kind, and not PIO.
