i really have zero knowledge about macs and i don't know anyone who own a mac book near me so i was wondering if anyone can help me out.

i own a SAGER 9880 for gaming but my job is audio engineering and i make music/tracks.
and the old school sager is NOT friendly when it comes to mobility...15lbs or shoulder press hurts lol

i was wondering "just" for music making, is the macbook 13inch 2.00ghz DC, 2gb with windows XP/vista a good choice?

i know the video card on the macbook 13inch isn't that great but everything else seems good.

i'd use the OSX as it is if it weren't for the fact more than half my music programs don't support MAC

i hear for music and graphics macs were elite. could anyone help me out? and also if you have useful information i'd be very thankful!

I cant help you as far as apps go but you are heading in the right direction with music and video apps

I'd check www.versiontracker.com (make sure you select osx on the tab) and do a search for audio apps by rating.

going to a local mac store may help as well usually some very knowledgeable mac sales people there.

im sure it doesn't matter but in case anyone who is a musican crosses by...

reason 3.0 (hybrid)
Sony Soundforge (PC only)
Cool Edit (not sure)
MPC 2000xl (its MIDI workstation hardware)

that's really it.
but i don't think i can resist the macbooks they are just so sexy...this would be my first take at macs too

worst case: you hate mac os just run windows on it. if you feel comfortable with ebay and have a few extra bucks to blow to make sure the "switch" goes okay pick up a cheaper G4+ older mac. anything over G3 should run osx okay (maybe a little laggy) usually can be found for 200-400 (best way to go is a mini) it will give you a chance to play with the OS. or if you have a friend with a mac spend a few hours or so on it to get used to it (not sure how long you've been on PC's but its a switch)

i'd say macbook. the "go cheap with a G4" to try it out doesn't make much sense IMO since windows now runs natively on the hardware. so i'd go w/ your prior suggestion as opposed to the latter.

OP: as noted, with being able to run windows you can run your Windows pro stuff as needed and play with OS X as you get used to the new software options. check apple's software section in the online store to go through the various audio programs available for OS X.
