Is the Sentia m3450 for me?

Hi, if anyone could help me with thoughts, I would be so happy!. I'm not an expert with computers by any long shot so I need help!!

I need a new notebook, I have a creaking asus m6000n - hard drive is failing. Have been looking at the sony vgn-c25 more because of the looks and weight (I originally wanted light)

I'm not a serious gamer, due to lack of time really, so I dabble in some PC games but not anything online. Still, I think I need to have some capabilities still in that direction, = which I think the sony will not provide = thus have been looking at the sentia m3450.

Question really is how much should I build out the sentia off the basic model? It's not that pricey at its basic, and I see they rate themselves that the graphics card isn't 'future' proof, so is it worth me building in a lot of memory and more hard drive, more processing speed when it might anyway be redundant in a year?

I guess I'm looking for something I can use for a couple of years before it's out of date and I'm not someone who can install anything to a PC once I've bought it, I am seriously that clueless. I

Any thoughts?

You might want to consider the m5550 instead of the Sentia. Having dedicated graphics doesn't bode well for gaming. The m5550 has a dediacted graphics option that will allow you to play games better. Although, there are some people here that play games on there Sentia's. What kind of games do you actually play occassionally?

I've had my M3450 since Dec 06. To be honest for the money I shelled out I'm a bit disappointed. I probably could have gotten a laptop with the same performance for a lot less money, but I gave into the sleep design that Alienware has. I don't game much either, but i did install Doom to see how that would run. Let's say that I'll be playing it on my home PC with a much more powerful video card. I hope this helps.

Thanks both, very useful comments for me.

I've played Anno 1701 (construction game) on my asus recently and that went well, with only a little lag. I guess I don't need too much for things like that, I hate cutting off options if I do ever getting time to do online gaming but....

m5550 - didn't think about that, when I look at it, I'd probably get what I'd spec up the m3450 - interesting - and figures out cheaper, that could be the right thing there.

I think I have to decide if I need weight to be down - and sell out for a boring make, I was just looking at the toshiba satellites, or if I'll go with the m5550 and take on the extra weight. Have to say I do like the original cover thing too

hmmmm
