Installed Vista Without Boot Camp

Hmm... I have no idea if this has been posted anywhere yet. Today I just bought a new 160 gig hard drive for my MacBook. And low and behold when I installed the hard drive, I thought I'd pop in the Vista disc, instead of the Mac OS X disc to see if it would boot. To my surprise it did, Vista began installing without any problems at all! I installed the Boot Camp 1.2 drivers and everything seems to be working quite peachy.

BootCamp is not necessary to install Windows on a Mac.

All BootCamp is is a GUI for a nondestructive partitioning tool and a collection of Windows drivers for Mac hardware.

so then i take it you can have just one big XP/vista partition, and ZERO OSX

right?

Another plus for Boot Camp is that it also makes restoring your disk to a single partition pretty easy. And before Boot Camp 1.2 you could install Vista, but you had to destroy the EFI partition meaning that Vista became the default OS, and that could not be changed.
