ATI Impact on Battery Life / Heat

Planning to buy a T60:

2.0GHz Core 2 Duo
2GB RAM
100GB 7,200 RPM HD
Vista Business

Hope some of you can help me decide on a graphics card. I'm not sure if I should go with x1300 or x1400. I play games ocassionally (old stuff like Starcraft just to kill time), but do watch DVD films. My main concerns are impacts on battery life and heat when using dedicated cards (vs. GMA950). Your opinions will be much appreciated.

By the way, does 7,200 RPM make a big difference? I do a lot of work in Excel / Access, with some SQL / VB. I help to maintain a number of databases (all 200MB +) so I thought a faster HD would be helpful but would like to hear your thoughts as well.

Many thanks.

The video card makes a difference on battery life. My T60P which has a FireGL V5200 goes through my 9Cell in the time it takes a T60 with a X1400 with a 6 cell does. I notice my Seagate 100gig 7200 drive runs much hotter than a 160gig 5400RPM and uses more power on Seek too.

Battery life between X1300 and X1400 should be minimum. If you want longer battery life go for Intel graphics.
