S96J Drivers

Thread Starter
I’ve just bought an Asus S96J. I have all the hardware installed, but I need to install the OS and the drivers on my own. I just installed the Windows XP OS, but I am not sure which drivers are necessary to make my computer run at top efficiency. Plus I hear a lot about Omega drivers and other 3rd party drivers that are said to be better than the Asus drivers. Could anyone explain to me the best set of drivers I should download? A checklist of the necessary drivers would be great if possible.

Keep in mind that the driver cd that came with my computer doesn’t work, so I’ll have to download everything online.

Also if there are specific threads that answer my questions, please link them. I’ve checked around but everything I read seems vague to me.

Thanks for any help.

You can get all the drivers from Intel's "verified by Intel" section or from the Asus support site. The different drivers others have mentioned are only for the video card.

I still don't know exactly what I need. There are a lot of drivers.

On a related note, the cd that I thought was broken might not be. When I put it in the pc it says something about not being compatible, but when I put it in my mac, I can see all the drivers available. So it made me think, am I supposed to boot from the driver cd in order for it to work? If so, is that a better option then manually getting each driver since I would expect that the cd would not be entirely up to date. CD is N1731.

Well, I am still confused, I'll try to figure it out.

Okay, I figured out most of my questions with only a few left.

The TPM driver didn't install, it said something about "trusted platform module not found". I looked it up online with little results.

Another thing is when I look through my system information, two hardware components don't have drivers. The 'Ethernet controller' and the 'PCI Device'. I checked Asus and Intel with no luck. I pretty much downloaded everything they had for my OS, so I can't imagine what else I would be missing.

I also have one last question that is not necessarily a problem, but just curiosity. What exactly is a Mobile Intel Chipset Express? I downloaded the driver from Asus, but I am not exactly sure what it does. I know it has nothing to do with my Intel Wireless Card, so what is it? Is it necessary?

Anyone? I've been stuck on these issues for a while. I used utility identifier tools and even those can't identify the hardware that's missing the drivers.

Have you installed the ATKCPI Drivers yet? It could very well be that. Do you have wireless installed?
