OK this is a weird problem. I have a 256MB BTC USB flash memory. It took a few shocks during his lifetime but always survived. Aprox. 1 month ago it started not working anymore. I had to flex it, take it out and put it back in order for the computer to recognize it. Since the plastic shell cracked a long time ago (ups
) I was able to rip it apart. It isn't rocket since: 2 memory chips, 1 controller chips and a few small electronic parts. Thought what the hell maybe a solder got ripped after a hit or something, so I checked with a microscope the whole stick.
Yes you guessed it, no loose soldering. The interesting thing is then I tried it one more time when I started flexing the stick (because the LED didn't turned on so I thought its a loose contact), it became so hot I couldn't touch it.
Anyone has any idea what could be wrong with it. I know it's only 256 MB but i wanted to fix it to give it to friend. (since then I bought a 2GB one
)
THX, any help, idea, suggestion (crazy thing to do with a burned out stick) would be really apriciated.
