Any laptops similiar to the Sony SZ?

Hey guys, I have a friend who has a Sony SZ and I heard they were going for about 1k at office depot but I lucked out and couldn't get one. Well now I am looking for something that is comparable to the Sony SZ in size and weight for close to 1k or the cheapest possible with a core duo minimum. The Dell D620 seems attractive for weight but I don't know how it compares to the SZ in bulkiness. I am going to be carrying this laptop almost everyday walking around college campus. This is going to replace my 17" Dell that I currently have. Any suggestions? Oh and a good vid card would be higher preferable too but at that price range and size I don't expect it at all. I currently have a 6800 in my dell which is not powerful but better than integrated graphics in the smaller laptops and would like something with this kind of power if at all possible because I am giving my laptop to my brother.

there is nothign comparable for that price. the SZ's go for around 1400 minimum.

there's the Dell m1210. 12", core 2 duo, geforce 7400
also the Asus A8js. 14", core 2 duo, geforce 7600

I really like the A8js and I see in your sig that you have an A8jm. Both these laptops seem really appealing to me but how do they compare to the Sony SZ in size and weight and are there any pictures out there that puts them side by side as a size comparison and are the two A8js and A8jm roughly the same size? And do you think that these laptops will drop to around 1k or below within the next several months? Dont really need one until August.

i actually just found a brand new SZ at newegg for about the same price brand new but I am looking at the Asus' now due to their gaming performance which I realize I don't need in college but would be a VERY good addition to any computer but one thing I am trying to figure out is how these Asus' compares to the SZ in size, usually judging by the measurements alone doesn't really justify it and I would really like to see picture comparisons of the Asus A8 to the Sony SZ if there are any out there.

yeah i tried that and nothing came up at all. I would also like to feel how the notebook feels so I was wondering if any stores had them on display so that a person could try it out before they buy it.
