Dell XPS M1710 problem playing songs/videos skips and doesnt play smooth.

When i play songs and video and stuff the song like skips and doesnt play it smooth. Any ideas what that might be? does it with winamp windows media player and whatever i use to play.

Ive got 1 gig of ram with the T2700 processor and a 7900GTX 512mb.

check the cpu usage in task manager. if there are crazy spikes when you hear the skip in the song/video, there is definitely something wrong.

yes it does spike a bit but when im normally listening its at maybe 15-20% when it skips it goes up maybe 5-10%

Try downloading a new codec pack for audio / video. I'm using the K-Lite Codec pack with no problems. Google it.

do you play games? do they run well? if not, you might have a virus cause the same thing happened to me.
