the M1710 is indeed a very nice machine. Very nice specs you got there too, if you don't mind my asking, how much is the whole deal setting you back?

how did you get an m1710 with those specs so cheap? i specced one like that on dell.com and it was around $4000
post #9 of 17
Simple-don't go through Dell.
oh. im not trying to use ebay. but where else can i go to get the m1710 that is reputable ?
What is wrong with Ebay? I have purchased 6 machines there, including this one.
i dont have an ebay account. so i'll be starting with a brand new and i wont have a great reputation since i haven't never used ebay. i've just heard of horror stories with ebay so i tend to shy away from them. i just dont seem to trust people on there since then. plus im not trying to spend $4,000 on a laptop and have any issues with it.

also how does dell honor your warranty if you didn't buy it from them?
If you buy it from an authorized retailer it is covered. Anyone can transfer a warranty though, it's a 5 minute process. As long as the purchase is legit.

sol : do you recommend any retailer on ebay? if its cheaper i'll go that route. please let me know.

I bought a similar XPS system two weeks ago from Sotalaptops on EBay. The laptop was delivered exactly as I ordered it in its factory sealed box and took only about a week to reach my door step.

The sales rep. was always a phone call away (usually on the first ring) to answer any questions that I had and was very helpful. This is one of the best purchasing experiences that I have had in long time.

I paid a little over $3200.00 for the machine listed below.

XPS M1710 (Black)
T7600G (2.33GHz/667MHzFSB)
2GB,DDR2,667MHz
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950 GTX 512MB
160GB SATA 7200RPM Hard Drive
Wireless N Card
Bluetooth
Sound Blaster Addon
Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate
3 Year CompleteCare Accidental DamageService
