Hard drive sounds...

I have a 9750 with 2 7200 rpm hard drives, one 80gb (the original hard drive) and a 100gb.

The 80gb which is just a little over a year old, has started making a really annoying sound. I don't think its failing because performance is the same, and S.M.A.R.T. still has it being at 97% health. But I want to hear what you guys think because I'm not an expert.

Heres a recording of the sound after turning on the computer from sleep mode.

BACK UP ALL YOUR DATA NOW because your harddrive is going to die really soon.

Yeah, its already backed up. As weird as it is, I have that sound for a couple days then it goes away.... its not consistent. It happened before exactly the same way a few months ago, but sager support said it wasn't a problem because it wasn't consistent. But now, because of that ats stuff, its not in warranty, if it does die, ill just use the other hard drive.

Good call with the backing up... see if you can find a tester from the manufacturer of the HD and run it and see if it's still healthy.

Keep making those regular backups, and you should be fine. Either that, or try to find an upgrade for it.
