Ordered Early B-day Present - Hypersonic GX7 - Page 3

Well, I'm happy to say that Hypersonic CS didn't let me down. I received an email from Michael @ Hypersonic @ 7:21PM saying "I will try my best to secure an advanced replacement of a system for you"

Very nice to hear Trick...I was hoping that would be the case.
Did they give you a timeframe? Hopefully they will put a rush on it, and not getting the paint will certainly help speed things up

I'll probably play around with mine a few days, photograph, do benchmarks, etc., and then I'll write a full review and post some pictures

Ratmyr...I hope your GX-7 arrives soon too!!! I would also like to hear from you on your experience as well!!

Trigger69.

I received another email today from the Director of Technical Operations @ Hypersonic and I'm thoroughly impressed with their Customer Service.
I've received 3 emails in 2 days all expressing concern for my situation and keeping me apprised of the status of my replacement.
If you happen to have a problem with your GX7 (lets hope not) it's comforting to know that this is the level of service that you can expect.
Here's the email:

"Anthony has been keeping me informed on the status of your RMA, and I
just wished to write to you letting you know that we are in the process
of building you a new system. I would first like to express how sorry I
am that you have encountered these problems.
Since these are the holidays, we are currently working with a "skeleton
crew" and are working as fast as we can to get your system to your hands
as soon as possible. You will be contacted Tuesday or Wednesday to
verify your credit information with our billing department, and that
same day your system will ship overnight.
Again, I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you, and
wish you a safe and happy holiday.

Regards,

Alessandro Gilligan
Dir. of Technical Operations
Hypersonic PC Systems
"

Hypersonic definitely get high marks for customer service based on my experience.

Sorry to hear your problems Trick and I am hoping that it was rare occurance. I am getting closer to my shipping date and anxiously waiting. I have already ordered my laptop cooler and the area on the desk is ready for its new renter.

Once it does arrive, I am considering calling in sick (taking sick leave). They said that it can be done when you need to stay home with a family member.... and this new system is going to be a part of the family (looking to see if wife is reading this). But once it does, I will let everyone know and take some pictures of it.

...anxiously waiting.....

One thing that surprised me was I was laying in bed and the phone rang. My wife told me it was "Paul from Hypersonic." I live in Europe, so this is not a normal toll call. So I got on the phone and he was just letting me know he saw that I ordered a system and wanted to know if I had any questions concerning the order or the process.

So I am glad that your experience is just as nice. Thanks.

Well...I've been delayed another week
HS is waiting on a 3.4EE and said it may take a week to get it....
As long as they take the time to make sure everything is working properly, burn-in, etc.. I'll live...I just want a better experience than my last computer woes..lol..
I'll keep you guys up to date.

Wow compared to what another forum member just posted in regards with his experience with Voodoos customer support, Hypersonic is way ahead of Voodoo.... oh and dont forget... Hypersonic has better prices than Vodoo too.

I received a call last night that my system is on track and will be shipping out on either Monday or Tuesday. The actual shipping date is Monday, so I am still happy. Getting closer and closer to the delivery date.

Just providing an update.

grrr

If yours shipped out Monday I'm gonna scream , my ship date was Monday as well, slipping now to a promised Thursday (1 day air so I am alledgedly getting it Friday). CS rep was prompt in returning calls and even offered a Saturday delivery, but now that supposedly is not going to be needed .... after a full month of waiting I can deal with a little more delay, but the system better be perfect when it arrives ... 3 more days... damn I hate waiting...

Hey there ratmyr,

What's happening with that review...I'm very eager.

I'll keep watching this post. Unless you post a brand new post under the review section.

Slipping yet again...

Called again checking status, <put on hold a long time> a different rep now said system would take a few more days might ship on FRIDAY, I pressed noting how just yesterday the rep called me back with a firm ship date of Thurs, and somehow a firm shipment on Thursday sounded quite different from a might ship by Friday... <put on hold again> rep came back and said the system might be done in time to ship Thursday afternoon, and that I should call back tomorrow afternoon .... rep assured me that they have a fairly late pickup time ...

Beginning to get a bit frustrated, its been well over a month since my credit card got hit with the big stick, I can deal with waiting for something, but dates that shift every 24 hrs begin to worry me... now of course I don't know nor would anyone tell me whether the delay was caused by a problem with my system, backlog of other orders or what have you... I have to think that since I have been given now 4 different ship dates over the past week something is amiss (a week ago I called and was told everything was on track for a 26th ship date, last friday I checked and was told Tuesday/Wed, yesterday it was Thursday, and initally today it was maybe Friday...) ... Time will tell I suppose....

Doubly annoying since I paid for next day air and have to arrange to have someone be at my house to accept delivery ....

I was just re-reading your post again. You say artic silver comes already applied? Cause it also come with the Voodoo m780 as well. But the Voodoo is SOOOO much more expensive anyhow.

I have to buy a Voodoo cause I'm visiting my cousins in Vancouver and there won't be any customs duties or other taxes, since Voodoo is in Canada. I would love to order from Hypersonic as the price is so much more cheaper, but in the end after I've paid other taxes and custom duties for the laptop crossing the America border, then the price might just equal or be more than Voodoo. So I'm sticking with Voodoo.........

Unless Hypersonic opens up a branch in Canada......hehehehe

every procesor has to have thermal paste on it, otherwise it'would burn. the paste is a link between it and the cooler.
I think we all know processors need paste.

But Arctic Silver 5 is a "special" kind of paste.

Well

Technically, most mass produced computers do not use paste they use thermal pads (like Sager) which , although less efficient heat-wise, are easier to mass produce....

still the paste is required. thrust me on this one. i worked 1 summer in an Asus notebook repair unit. they always use paste. pads are a bonus.

If you say so but ..

... clearly there is a difference between "thermal pads" which come with sagers , and found on many retail processors (one came pre-stuck on the heatsink which came with my AMD 64-3400 retail box for my home built desktop, no thermal paste there. I did not use the AMD packaged heatsink, went instead with a Zalman and thermal paste ). To understand my point seek out the threads inthe sager forum which show you step by step process of removing the factory thermal pad and replacing it with paste. There is NO thermal paste as it comes from the factory...

.. oh. btw. despite some confusion on tracking numbers and shipping times, my red Hypersonic GX-7 is on DHL courier somewhere within 10 miles of me as I type.... set up as a Saturday delivery due (kudos Hypersonic sales... )

... full pics and report tonite ...

Card. Congrats on the news. I know you are excited!

As for replies, I haven't been on the net this week as I have been finishing up a vacation with my wife and kids. My system was also delayed (from Monday), however, Hypersonic has kept me informed by phone calls (not cheap calling Germany) and ICQ messages (with Sales Rep). I received notification that it was taken to the post office yesterday, so it is on its way.

I wanted to go with overnight, and when it was delayed, I started looking at this option. However, not sure what the costs would be due to duty/taxes, I didn't go this route. I am American living in Germany with the US Army, however, my overnight address would have been a german address, thus it would have to go through customs.

So.... I am waiting for the slow USPS delivery. Hopefully it will be here next Friday. This has got to be the worst part.

In any case. Looking forward to seeing the review and pictures, as it will resemble my system design as well.

Take care.

Its here ... !!

Tada !!

Just ripped open the package ... first impression.. OMG .. utterly gorgeous paint job, flawless .. photo's do not do it justice ... !! Looks too sweet to touch ....

other quick impressions... it really doesn't feel "heavy" it is substantial for certain , but its not a over burden.....
The biggie for me was worrying about pixels of course... so I fire it up... whoa.. screen is incredible (I would not want higher res, this matches the DPI on my 20.3 " Viewsonic that runs at 1600x1200 )... I was about to load my diagnostics software from CD , but hell it is supposed to be wireless so i decided to see how hard it was to get connected.... literally 10 sec later I was registering WinXP to MS over the net... not even the slightest hiccup.... went to a favorite website I use for testing screens ... LCD Testing ... and what do you know? .... a FLAWLESS Screen !!! Of course I paid extra to be sure, but last thing I wanted to do was RMA it on day one ....
A tease, more to come .. (Paint looks way too orange in photo, its really a very deep blood red, exactly as it looks on Hypersonic's website..)

More to come in separate review elsewhere ....
