Convert VHS Video to DVD or avi divx file?

Hi,

I have a set of VHS Vides that aren't available on DVD to buy. So I want to try and convert them.

Can anyone help me with adice or tips on this?

I have an Inspiron 9400.

if you get a usb tv tuner or something, they often allow you to input rca and stereo audio or something in, and then you can record and encode to whatever desired format and encoding.

well, usually, the receiver thing comes with its own software. the one i have (http://www.everythingusb.com/pinnacl...pro_stick.html) came with all the necessary software
