hi:
(sorry for the long post...i did an extensive research wth no luck)

i'm not a gamer and the issues i have are during normal computing. i have a 5660 with ATI mobility Radeon 9000 (128mb), windows xp pro sp2, and been thru ati drivers, omega drivers and dhzeropoint, after i started getting garbled display for the past week. i even rolled back my directX driver from 9c to 8.1. i have to mention that i dont have the issue when i'm booting up or in safe mode or standard VGA mode and only when i have the GC drivers installed. also i can watch a movie with no problem in my windows media player without any garbling even if the display is corrupted everywhere else....kinda strange..., where as the so i'm not sure if its entirely the hardware problem.

i did pretty much everything that has been suggested online for people with similar issues except cleaning out the GC..i did, open the laptop, cleaned the heat sink, fans and also applied new heat seal compound...but those are where the processor is...i know that the GC is integrated into MOBO and is it worth opening up and cleaning up the GC...does it have any fan or heat sink associated with it and as far as i can see it doesnt look like it.

so if i have to reach the GC, do i have to take the heat sink off of the processor and there by damaging the heat seal compund that i just applied a couple of days ago.

any suggestion is appreciated...thanks
