yup My 9100 died I bought it second hand of ebay with no warrenty dell was kind enought to send me a Refubished e1705 with a 1.83ghz CORE DUO 1GIG of ram 120GIG 5400rpm drive, intel pro 3945 wireless and 1440x900 WXGA+ screen, only problem is its got the crappy radeon x1400 and just idling on the desktop it artifacts and crashes, does it more when I play games, anyways idling its gets up to 60c the most i seen it get upto was 69c playing games, if I set the fans to high speed then I can play games and do whatever and it wont crash but its bulshit it artifacts at such a low temperature. my 9300 has a more powerful 6800GO and it idles around 49c and gets mid 60c s gaming and hasn't crashed once. I haven't decided if I want to talk to dell or not I seen ebay auctions for nvidia 7800GOs and 7900GS for this model I might just buy one of those.
Heres some pics of the artifacting. I know its not a driver problem as it has artifacted on the dell boot screen before it loads xp, also when it starts to artifact if you can get to the fan program in time you put the fans on high speed and cool it down fast then the artifacts start to go away so iam guessing its a defective card most likely

The GPU in that "new" 1705 is about to conk out. Dell will likely only give you more x1400s to repair it. You should be able to find a 7900 GS on ebay fairly cheap if you want and if you plan on gaming I advise you to buy one. As Dave said it will just drop right in. Only problem there is no warranty support if you buy a bum card.
