parting with my 6805 :(

i must part with my less than a month old computer. i was informed rather late that work will not re-imburse me for this computer because it is not a dell. i cannot return it to best buy, so i'm screwed. you can still get the extended warranty from emachines.

so...this is now for sale. it's an m6805. perfect screen (no dead pixels) i've added a 512 meg. kingston stick of pc2700 memory for a total of 768 megs of ram. i'm sure you are quite aware of the specs of the machine so i won't go into that.

i am selling the system for $1500.00 flat, and i will ship for free. i am including the ram, and i will also throw in full copies of spellforce, deus ex: invisible war, gangland, and call of duty. all free.

you will not find a better deal on this. period.

contact me @ andrew@andrewmusic.net if you're interested.

wow, good deal!

I'm sure you'll find a buyer.

Might be a bit expensive, since you can get a new one from bestbuy (with rebate) for 1450.

Try advertising this at Anandtech trade forums, they ahve a huge community there.

I bet it would do well on ebay since there is a shortage in some areas
post #6 of 22
Cripes, if didn't already own a m505x, I would be all over this. It's a hell of a deal.

.andrew. I'm going to let a buddy of mine know about this. He doesn't check out this forum, but I'll make sure he references it in his email.

So, do you have to get a Dell now? They push them at my office, but I couldn't do it. They don't re-imburse us anyway, so it doesn't really matter. At least I can write it off.

What kind of HDD do u have with that? is it the 54k or 42k one?
and also where do u live?

hey gobo: thanks so much for passing the word along! i really appreciate it. i can use the help at this point...

as far as getting the dell, i have to order on monday. not my money! but if i don't have to pay for a laptop, i'd rather not. i don't mind eating a couple hundred bucks, but over 1800 at this point? nope. i'd rather not...

HD is the 42k with 8 meg cache. it's the travelstar. i'll tell you what. i still have the rebate form too. i'll GIVE you the rebate form. you can put that towards the better HD. it's money that i haven't seen anyway. so if you send in the rebate form, you'll get this thing for 1400.

i have installed XP pro on here...you can keep that if you like. i've got it configured to where it's extremely fast on bootup and fast general operation. all drivers are up to date and stored on a storage partition on the drive that i made.

so...you'll have 768 megs of ram...100 mail in rebate...4 games...free shipping...you CANNOT GO WRONG

i live in cincinnati, oh. shipping for free still stands.

do you mean full versions of the software with manuals and license or just the fact that you installed it on the HD?

Will you go lower considering it's only $1299.99 AR w/ FREE SHIPPING @ BestBuy.com??

when i say i'm going to give you all those software titles, i mean the full, commercially purchased versions of those pieces of software. licenses, manuals, etc. yours.

as for #2

mmm...first, it's not 1299.00. it's 1549.00 still. you still have to send in the rebates. and don't forget the below...

1. don't forget that you have to pay tax. tax will bring that price up at LEAST 90-100.

2. don't forget that you are getting 256 megs of ram EXTRA. 768 megs of ram.

3. don't forget that you're getting 4 game with it.

4. don't forget that you're getting a 100 mail in rebate with it.

5. don't forget that with a new one, you have to worry about getting one without dead pixels.

6. don't forget you're getting XP pro with it.

i exchanged one for another on 3/13. so it's LESS THAN a month old.

so...considering all the above...no. i will not lower the price. i'm LOSING $300+ already.

this is the best deal you will find on this. seriously.

i'll throw in a full, new copy of far cry for you as well.

Not in Oregon.

Worthless to anyone but you. Read Line 3 of the rebate form, it says, "Rebate coupons are non-transferable to other retailers for distribution, to other end-users or customers."

Is this a full-blown retail-version of XP Pro complete with CD, documentation, etc? (That would be the only legal way to offer it up as part of the price.)

No biggie, I just think the price is a bit high. If you decide to drop the price or have a hard time getting $1500 for it, let me know. I'm not buying for another week.

FYI - There is a used one on eBay for $1100 Buy-it-Now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...7&category=177

Sorry, but I have to agree. I am not trying to "price police", but...
I would be interested at a fair price also, but the warranty is definately not transferrable. Also, how would you intend to take payment for this?
If I buy from an online merchant with a credit card, I am protected. Sending a money order, etc. to you I am not. Forget Paypal, they don't protect anybody from anything, I have lost over $400 through Paypal, thought I was protected and wasn't.
Unfortunately, once a product is used the value drops dramatically, especially with computers/electronics.

Sorry, try selling the 6805 without the "extras" and price it accordingly and people may be interested. Otherwise, you're bundling a bunch of items people apparently have no interest in and calling it a deal. Likewise, as an aforementioned poster has already stated paying for an online retailer is a little different than paying for it to some random person. On that thought, if I'm unahppy would you take it back withint 30 days?

thanks all of you for posting on this. i really appreciate your feedback and info. and such. i figured that sense this laptop has been such a hot seller that people would really be interested in it, especially with all the extra stuff.

i can see that i was wrong in thinking that as far as what your posts have been so far.

i guess i'm going to just keep the laptop. perhaps i'll eat it as an expensive gift for my girlfriend or something. that's about it.

thanks again for all responses!

the end.
