XPS M1710 with 7950GTX driver problem?

Hi guys, this morning I was just viewing thumbnails of some videos on my XPS when suddenly the screen went bonkers! white background with vertical lines moving around the screen. I did a reboot and everything was fine, Tried to view the videos again via thumbnail view and it happened again! I play games on it and it never gave ma a problem. Any ideas whats wrong with it? Should i do a clean installation of nvidia drivers? I think when i installed dell drivers, i never used drive cleaner, I just installed it and that was it but it never gave me problems before.

If this is only happening in windows and not games then im not sure whats going on.

Try the XG Mobileforce drivers or some from laptopvideo2go.com. Im not a fan of the dell drivers myself. If you are using XP then I would use driver cleaner pro in safe mode after uninstalling the drivers from windows.

Vista does a better job supposedly of removing drivers. Right-click and uninstall from device manager and select 'delete the driver software for this device'. Then check it is removed from control panel/uninstall and folder locations. Then when u reboot it will just install the standard vga driver. Then just install the new drivers.

Looks like its back again! I really don't know what to do now. It seems to happen only in a specific folder when im viewing videos in thumbnails. I tried to view video thumbnails in my external hard drive and it was all fine. Is there like a nvidia gpu hardware diagnostics software that I can use to check if it is a hardware fault? Did a 3dmark 03 and it scored 20000+ is that normal? Cheers.

Could be just a corrupt version of windows install or at some point the windows OS got damaged files due to sudden shutdowns. You can try using the repair utility on the windows cd but I just reinstall the whole thing to save myself the trouble since the OS tool takes so long anyway.
