Acer 5610 - will not post/boot

I am not sure what happened to cause this but my Acer 5610 will not post.

Battery and AC were removed for at least 20 mins to clear things.

I hit the power button , lights come on (no HD light though). and the Fan spins for about 30 seconds and stops.
Power light , battery charger light stay on but nothing happens.

Im stunned as the laptop is less then 90 days old.

One thing too , I tried to register the laptop on Acers site and says my serial number is invalid. WTF

I emailed Acer support and havent heard back in 3 days.

I just ordered a SATA to usb adapter to get my critical data off before I send laptop in (if I can send it in).
Hopefully my drive isnt toast , its a hitachi so I doubt it.

Any suggestion?

I own the Acer 5672 WLMi which is over a year old now, and the exact same thing has happened to me just today.

How it happened was, I was on my laptop, and the computer just froze whilst in Windows. I force shut-down thinking it was just another Windows freeze, now when i try to power it on again, what you mentioned above happens.

I'll be leaving it overnight with the ac and battery out. I'll update you on my progress.

Anyone else encounter this problem and found the solution to it?

Update: I've tried a few things to try and isolate the problem to no avail. I tried placing my HDD into another laptop and also tried replacing the fan/heatsink form the Acer spare parts store.

I've now handed my laptop over to the Acer repair store, annoyingly, 1 month after my warranty has expired. There was a $49.50 assesment fee and i'm now waiting for a call from them to quote me on which parts were faulty. I'll update after I hear from them.
