What do you think of this build

I've been trying to find the best bang for my $ and this seems to be the best I can build. Just wondering what everyone thinks. Any suggestions are certainly welcome.

Dell e1505
Core 2 Duo T5600
1G DDR2 @667M
15.4 UltraSharp WXGA+ with TrueLife
100GB 7200 HDD
8x CD/DVD Burner
256MB Nvidia GeForce Go 7300 TurboCache
$1056 after $500 coupon.

I figure it's cheaper to upgrade to 2GB ram myself.
Display I'm open to suggestions as I'm not sure of the differences or advantages of one over another.
Video card I was on the fence between this and the x1400.

Thanks

Get the ati x1400 graphics. It's better than the Go 7300, and cheaper.

I had read the ati x1400 was better, but I've also recently read some negative comments as well. I certainly take these comments with a grain of salt and do my homework to formulate my own opinion.

From the dell forum

"STAY AWAY FROM ATI! Every since they were purchased last year from AMD they don't play nice with Intel Processors."
and
"
Nvdia is by far the more cooperative support and the Graphics is much better hands down for qualiy and heat on (on a laptop). If you are going with a Vista system make sure you have a 256GB for on the Graphics Card."

This could very well be someone with a bone to pick against ati.

If I do go for the x1400 which I've been leaning towards, I can spend the extra $$ to upgrade to 2GB ram. I've got to spend $1499 to use the coupon.

Overall, do you think this build is a good value?

I wish they'd offer the T7200 as well.

It's a better deal than I got. Don't get the RAM from dell, buy it 3rd party (Newegg, etc) unless you need to finance and don't mind the extyou'll save at least $50.

Both the GO 7300 and the x1400 suck in the grand scheme of things - the x1400 just sucks less. Do a google for x1400 vs go 7300.

ATI vs Nvidia bashing is pointless. They go back and forth. ATI is in a slump, but the win for this price/performance point.

The ram is a losing situation no matter what. you either pay a premium for 2gig or end up wasting 1x 512 or 2x 512 when you buy 2x 1gig aftermarket.

Have not ordered yet. I still have a day or so before the coupon expires. HP's are similarly priced, and the T60 is a bit more.

How about ordering it with just 512, and hook it up with 4 gigs third party?

Ordering with 512 is not an option. Not sure if it's a different story if you call to order.

You pay $200 additional for a 2gig 667 ram upgrade from DELL. You can buy similar aftermarket ram for $100. You still saved $100.

Even of you call, they might not allow you to downgrade the ram to 512 especially if you configure your system with Vista.
