WOW...

Talk about timing. I sure as hell am glad I bought that thing yesterday, not to mention with a full warranty!

Ryzeki, I hope you find anotrher good system.. or they bring it back! I feel your pain, even though it may seem like it right now.

Seems like a popular machine with little problems attached to it, can't imagine they would just toss it.

Oh and Ryzeki, though it may not be a system of choice, they dropped the starting price of the m5550 $100, so that's pretty darn affordable!

I dunno, it sorta makes sense. According to a few sites, the m5790 was supposed to only be offered for a few months, and it was labeled a "Special Edition" as well, which tend to be shorter lived deals. I wonder what will replace it..

OhmEye,damn you are fast :P

i just saw that too and it also reconfirms what i was told. i returned my 5790 bcus they sent me out the wrong lcd screen on my order (they stated it was automatic bcus they had no wxga screens left to use and did not know if they would get any more in due to they will be phasing out the 5790). that was when i was informed of a new model coming out around may (9750 in particular) and so i returned it and placed my preorder for the m9750.

That must mean they're releasing something to replace it....

Kinda gives me a sick feeling. What can I expect for support on a discontinued model?
It's kinda funny.. the guy I talked to yesterday at AW said he had no clue as to when a system would be phased out.. that doesn't seem to make sense, shouldn't it be known among sales reps so they can better inform possible buyers of whether or not their purchases will be worthwhile?

You can get your 1 year of support. And if you upgraded to more time, you can get that. I don't think they can charge you 300 for a 3-year warranty only to not be able to support it.

Well, I expect AW to honor their warranties of course. I am more concerned with the R&D that goes into making driver implementations, etc. on an obsolete system. Wonder why such a short life for this machine? Seriously starting to question my own judgement in making the purchase.

I think a good number of people ordered the m5790, and a lot of them seemed very happy with their purchases. That said, I think they are going to be asked by a good number of people to provide some backing and support for the system.

I hope so. As you can see from my sig I just made the jump from a long relationship with another well-known notebook manufacturer and was sure hoping I picked a good partner. This is my first experience with AW, so time will tell. Wonder how many have bought m5790's. I've only found one other owner who's tried to update the video drivers. . .

Don't lose faith, we must band together!

I think AW will treat you 5790 owners just like any AW owner (except like old AW laptops because they're parts have been discontinued, they won't do that to you. ). You guys will be treated the same as some person who just ordered a m9750. Oh and I forgot his name, but the guy who created this thread, your sig is way too big. I'm no mod but I one time got told to slim down my sig and mine was smaller then yours. Just a heads up.

Don't worry about his sig too much, it's about the size of mine, and I don't think mine is too large...i guess maybe it is :\\. Plus, scrolling isn't too hard

Yeah. And if they didn't, there would likely be a good deal of customers getting very angry about it.

And if they really couldn't help you out, hell, they'd probably be obligated to give you credit or maybe get you a new system. Okay.. wishful thinking.. but we can all dream!

You have no idea, sir. My friend's finger was paralyzed due to too much scrolling. SO inconsiderate. *end sarcasm*
