You probably won't be able to extend your warranty, but AW will honor the warranty in full. It's a uniwill base model and it uses standard integrated components other than the mobo, so it shouldn't be difficult to find parts and service after your warranty expires.

Drivers and firmware for the components will continue to be updated by the manufacturers.

Not a dream, it's part of the warranty. If while the warranty is valid they can't repair or replace your system, you're entitled to a refund or equivalent system.

I know of a few AW customers that had issues with their 7700's that were able to move up to the 9700 under warranty. If you have an extended warranty, you're covered.

Once your warranty expires, you may be on your own, but AW continues to work on systems they can get parts for for a fee. Most of the components in the 5790 will be around for a while yet, as they're all current mainline processors and vid cards, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Don't worry about your sig, OhmEye. If a mod sees it, and doesn't like it, they'll let you know.

Are you really from Springville, CA ?????

You mean all that dieting and it doesn't show? For real, Springville. Do you know of this place?

hey i also noticed that they dropped the price on the m9700 a whole lot, only 1500 stock. possible foresight into the highly anticipated m9750? maybe maybe not

I think this is part of the challenge that AW--and I--face right now. If you look on the ATI support pages of their website, the X1900 mobility card doesn't even exist! I'm really praying that my tech support goes to bat for me. . .

Hmmm... yeah, ATi has horrible driver support, and AW takes forever to release newer vid card drivers... I use modified desktop drivers in my m9700, not sure where you could get drivers for ATi...

Have you looked for Omega drivers? Try google.

But why can't AW post those on there website for us? I heard of a newer bios for mine but it has never been on the site for some reason. My guess is because it was discontinued.

That's a good question for AW... I'm disappointed to see posts where support basically stops when a platform is discontinued. It shouldn't be too hard to update the download section, or keep suppliers that can supply parts for the older systems as long as they're available.

This is an area that AW should look at - even dell keeps updating - I got a notification the back in december of a new bios version available for a dell laptop that was made in 2000. I have given it to a friend of mine several years ago and he said that several driver and bios updates have been released by dell since he got it. I was amazed that they were continuing to support a product that hadn't been made in so many years...

Now you gotta take it with a grain of salt since Leroy is listening to Joe Walsh on eleben...but, but, but, what did you just say Hammerhead? That kinda double talk would be expected from democrats or King Crimson on twelve, King Crimson on twelve, King Crimson on twelve...that would be triple talk!!!

Will there be a replacement for the 5790? I really liked the form factor of that model. The 9700 just seems big and bulky and I really don't need a machine capable of SLI.

Thats what I'm saying, it's a great mid-level machine. The 9700 does seem like a beast. Septu

I have a m5790 with the following specs:

Vista Ultimate 64 bit
T7600G overclocked CPU
X1900 Mobility Radeon 256MB Dedicated
100 GB HDD 7200 RPM
DVD RW Optical Drive
2 GB Ram

Does anyone know where i can find a vista 64-bit signed Mobiliity X1900 Driver? I am currently using a work around- Manually installed through device manager the Vista 64 X1900 series driver. It works, But i really need a signed mobility Version, and alienware isnt offering the vista 64 driver.
