Acer Aspire 3610 - LCD base broken

Thread Starter
I have Acer Aspire 3610 , 15'4" lcd screen, resolution 1280x800. The lcd base connecting it to the laptop is broken but lcd screen functions ok still. When I say ok, it's showing well but screen can't stand still and I have to either hold it or have something to hold it which is very cumbersome and awkward. Should I replace it ? I sse the same type of lcd screen here http://www.logiccomputerhouse.com/si...etail&id=11860
I gather that replacement screen is more than 300$ and a standalone lcd is around 150$
Is it possible to buy a standalone lcd and just hook it up to laptop? Is that even doable? I am not taking it out or anything so it's a desktop replacement so to speak . Thanks in advance

Yes, as long as your computer is still getting output from the Monitor/DVI port - you can hook up another LCD monitor and it should work
