A few questions regarding my 450ROG

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and this is my first post here. Before purchasing this laptop I had a thinkpad T20 that I ended up destroying during the time I had it. So who knows how long this one will last.. lol. It's held up pretty good so far, except I dropped it and busted the LCD, but I do have another on the way that should get here by the end of the week. Anyhow, I'll get on with the questions I have.

1. Does anyone have a .pdf file of the repair manual for this laptop? I have exhausted google trying to find one and I haven't found on thus far.

2. The fan sounds like a miniature jet turbine, any tips to cool her down? I'm planning to put some AS5 on the heatsinks and blow the fan out with air when I start disassembling the thing next week to fix the LCD.

3. How much life will the secondary battery add to my total battery life?

4. I just noticed a crack yesterday occuring yesterday on the side of the lower case beside where the battery goes. This looks like a pretty weak point, is it normal for these to crack? I'll probably order a new lower case to replace this because it's causing the battery to come loose from the contacts so far the laptop shuts off. I have it held in with tape for the time being.

5. What kind of RAM do I need to use to upgrade and how much will it hold?

6. This laptop has the ATI M7 GPU I think, is it possible to upgrade to the M9 or any other GPU for that matter?

7. How the hell do I get the internal modem working? Even when I was using windows I couldn't make it work with the proper drivers installed. I think it might be dead or disconnected. We'll see when I tear it down. I have to use dialup at home when I'm away from college and I don't really like using an external serial modem to connect to the web.

8. Is this thing a piece of junk or what? haha

Seriously though guys, I'm impressed with this laptop's performance even with some of it's quality/aesthetic issues. It works great for the price I paid. I'm just putting it through too much abuse.

There is a secondary battery that goes in the removeable drive bay, I was just wondering how much extra time it would give me running on battery power. and about the internal modem, it just doesn't work at all. I just need it to work.

i see - well it is supoosed to give u extra time from what the 2nd battery can offer, they differ from specs to specs and under what system stress that the laptop is running at the time. U just have to try it out and measure for urself.

Thanks for all the help! I'll try to mess around with the modem more when I get some spare time.
