So I decided to update to Vista on my Z71V. After upgrading, everything was running smooth except that Vista was making my CPU overheat which caused my computer to shutdown every now and again. So I decided that I should check the fans to see if there was just a lot of dust in them. So I take out my battery, unplug the notebook and I start trying to unscrew the screws in the back...well there were 3 screws that were already stripped and basically jammed so I couldn't even get into my laptop, so I gave up and just dealt with the overheating issue by sticking a fan behind my laptop. After about another 2 weeks on normal running, I got a random blue screen which restarted my computer, upon restart, I got a black screen with the text "Insert a boot device and press any key" (which just repeated if I pressed any key). After about 10 tries to get it to start in safe mode, it finally booted up normally. But now my AC adapter doesn't seem to work (even though the green light is still on on the adapter). I have a bad battery which I haven't had time to replace, so now my computer doesn't even get power.
Obviously there is a hardware issue here, I am going to send it in to ASUS but I don't know if I should send the AC adapter too. One second the AC adapter was working and the next it wasn't. I have a feeling this repair is going to be expensive (my warranty is up) and I don't want to have to replace my adapter if I don't have to. Any suggestions/advice/2 cents? Thanks.
