About 2 and a half years ago I bought a CL56 or Aviator CX-5 from Hypersonic-PC, and it's performed well over its lifespan. Recently, though, the laptop developed a critical problem in that it's stuck on battery power and I can't get it to switch to AC power. The battery holds a charge and seems to be alright, and the AC adapter works on another laptop, so I believe the problem is the actually power supply port on the laptop itself. I tried to send to laptop back to Hypersonic to have it service, but their customer service has been atrocious, and they told me they never received the computer while also refusing to refund thier 100 dollar "diagnostic" fee. Moreover, none of the local shops will even consider repairing it. Consequently, I'm wondering how much it would be to fix the problem myself, and how difficult a fix it is. I'm guessing the internal power supply needs to be replaced, and that you probably need to replace the motherboard to do this? Also, searching around on the internet I found a few places that suggested buying a port replicator or docking station to power the laptop, any opinions on that option? Any help is greatly appreciated.
