Go8800 this month?

Some interesting info I came across on this roadmap: http://www.mikeshardware.co.uk/RoadmapQ207.htm

- nVidia GeForce Go 8800GS (G80M) is expected to be released in May. The GeForce Go G80M core is the mobile equivalent of the G80 GPU, with the GS model being a lower clocked version of the GTX due subsequent release.

- nVidia GeForce Go 8800GTX is expected to be released in June. The GeForce Go features the G80M core first released in the 8800GS, with the GTX being a higher performance part.

- nVidia GeForce Go G83M is expected to be released in Q2. The GeForce Go G83M is the mobile equivalent of the G83 GPU.

- nVidia GeForce Go G82M is expected to be released in Q2. The GeForce Go G82M is the mobile equivalent of the G82 GPU.

There's also some info about ATI's upcomming mobility offerings and other processeors at that site.

i have doubts about it. its only one site that is reporting it, and the big sites have not been there yet. in the end its up to nvidia. the 8800 series needed to have a process shrink before it could be made for a GO version. if they completed that early i could see it happening but otherwise i wouldnt expect it before september which is what nvidia among others have said in the past.

Not going to happen. I don't expect a 88XX series in laptops before Q3.

And when the 88xx series does come, what price range will we see it in? I've been thinking of buying a lap top for the living room that I could use for a bit of gaming on an HDTV (flight sims and driving sims), but mostly for browsing the web while watching TV. Currently I'm using a six year old Mac and it is way too slow. I was thinking about getting something in the $1500 range but decided to wait when I heard DX10 was coming soon. But is the reality that even when it comes it will be out of my price range for a while (maybe a year or so)?

yes it will be out of your range... expect it to only be in high end gaming laptops when it does hit which means high end prices as well

Okay. I expect the Go8800 laptops to be out of my price range for the next few years. so Plan B - ASUS A8 Series A8JS-4S024P Intel Core 2 Duo T7200(2.00GHz) 14" Wide XGA+ 1GB 120GB DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce Go 7700 NoteBook - Retail and I'll add another gig of RAM. Do people expect a price drop in the next few weeks on this model considering the introduction of Santa Rosa stuff?

It is rumored that we are going to hear something regarding the new DX10 cards by mid summer. This is when nVidia will give the expected dates for the new cards. Most likely we will see a scaled down version of the 8800 series cards like and 8600 or similar. However, I know nVidia is planning some big changes, and theres a lot that needs to be scaled down in the card for it to work in a mobile solution(die shrink, power envelop, etc.)

So it is going to be a while before we actually see these cards shipping, but September sounds about right, give or take. Also it is supposedly going to be drop in compatible with the new 9260 line as it has the MXM slot, but this is only if nVidia does not make any major changes, which they have done before. At this point we are just keeping our fingers crossed for availability. And we all know the big card makers like to sit on supplies to regulate the market. You can expect pricing(at first) to be 200-300 on top of current costs. All debuting cards usually start around 399-599.

It sounds like there are probably no pressures that would drop the price of the current Asus A8 with Go 7700 in the near future (next couple months).
