Battery Meter Monitor

Thread Starter
Well, I recently purchased a Dell XPS M1210 and was frustrated with Vista asking for all sorts of permissions so I ended up formatting the hard drive and reinstalling to XP. I have installed the drivers from Dell, etc.

What I couldn't find was a battery monitor that stated how much time was left. I know there is the one from quickset, but that is only based on percentage.

So my question is:

Is there any way to get that battery meter back?

I also noticed that there were some of the battery power schemes missing, any suggestions on that?

I am sorry if I'm reposting, I'm just in a hurry to get this fixed.

well you can always use NHC- Notebook Hardware Control Works great on XP (don't use on Vista)

http://www.pbus-167.com/

Allows monitoring of battery life, power scheme control, temp moitoring, and a whole bunch more in a small little package that resides in the tray.

Of course your default battery meter should be showing up & you just have to hover over the blue battery icon to show remaining batter life & %.

There are only 2 default power schemes in XP. You can create additional ones in the power scheme tab under display/power

Instead of uninstalling Vista, you could have simply gone to control panel and disabled UAC. That would have stopped Vista from ever asking you for permission ever again.

Right click on desktop--->Properties--->ScreenSaver--->Power--->Advanced--->Enable "Always show icon on the taskbar"--->Ok. Now you should be able to see the batter icon meter on the taskbar
