IBM T4x vs. Fujitsu P5xxx

I am in the market for a new notebook, and after a lot of research I've narrowed it down to these two (although I'm still keeping my eyes open for new models). I'd appreciate any feedback from owners of either system.

Basically, my minimum specs are these: integrated wireless, Pentium-M(I need great battery life), lightweight (no more than 6 pounds), CDRW/DVDROM combo drive, 512MB ram, preferrable dedicated vid card (~64MB). Anything better is a bonus. I will be writing some papers on it, but mostly will be surfing the web, email, etc. and the occasional game (not a hardcore gamer at all, but want dedicated vid memory). I just want a solid system that will hold up for a few years, and get me through college.

When I look at these two systems, I really like the size factor of the Fujitsu, but I am afraid the keyboard could be a little restricting. However, the IBM is a little larger and much more expensive.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

I wanted the same stuff as you, and went with the T41. The wait is very long though, so don't get one unles you're willing to wait at least 3 weeks. (i've been waiting since march 3rd for mine)

Yeah I have heard that they are on severe backorder, but I am in no hurry at all. In fact, I'm going to wait until May before I even get my wallet out, just so I can finish this semester with my current desktop.

That being said, I have also heard rumors of a T42 or T50 being released around May, any truth to this?

The Sony Vaio V505EX is just a little bigger than the P5000 at 4.4 pounds but it much more powerful and a bigger screen 12.1inches versus 10inches. It also has dedicated Video RAM whereas the P5000 does not. they are also about the same price, actually the V505EX might be had cheaper as it always has a rebate at COMPUSA or CIRCUIT CITY, etc. I have seen rebates from $150-$300. God Bless.

I think the Fujitsu is in a whole other category. However... if you are willing to lug 6lbs with you... why not get a notebook that is better?

The v505 from Sony that Jdeluna mentioned is a good pick... but then again. You could also go for the Toshiba Tecra M2. I think that one doesnt go over the 6 lbs. You have lots to choose from if your limit is 6lbs.

I think I made a mistake, I am looking for something less than about 5 pounds, basically in the range of the T41 (which is about 4.6 or so pounds)
