Any one have one?
Do they work well? Does it affect typing much?
Any other comments about them?

I don't have one on any of mine.....Nor have I ever needed to. Even using a 1405 in the field in harsh enviroments I've never needed it.

Bottom line, you might suse it for a day or 2 before it gets annoying & you throw it away....

As far as spilling stuff on it, there arre plenty of other places for liquid to get in your laptop besides the keyboard...

Considering you can get a brand new replacement keyboard for 15 bucks plus shipping on Ebay, I'd say, "No".

+1 to that. A long time ago my Dad paid $100+ bucks to have his keyboard replaced in his P1 laptop. Nowadays keyboards are pretty much disposable. Only thing I would be interested in would be something to stop water from going on to the motherboard (perhaps a pan under the keyboard?).

Maybe yank the keyboard and fill in some of the holes in the recess with silicone caulking? It would dry, take the heat, remain sealed, only be where it needed to be applied. Tape would leave a sticky residue everywhere and isn't gauranteed to seal against leaking. A quick and worthy mod, I think. You've inspired me!

The keyboard itself does not leak. the problem is the area surrounding the keyboard. you will see a small gap. Add to that the other area of the palrest that are not liquid friendly, including the screen latch holes, vents on both sides of the keyboard, media & power button, trackpad buttons, snap cover for the hinges.... There are plenty of other places for a 12oz drink to go lol.

Yes, of course there are. But if the recess under the keyboard was sealed up, it would certainly help
-No one's talking about making an underwater laptop, here.

Yeah flux does seem to be highest at the keyboard but ah, its not really a big deal to me...I'd rather have the little bit of heat escaping from those crevices regularly than seal them up on the off chance I spill something
