9880 Screen dimming randomly??

I have no clue why. People mention the voltage regulators going out on the Mother board. This could cause this, but it could also be a bad graphics card (6800ultra). Do you guys know what the deal is?

Hi my 9800dt does the same, it does it in xp and vista so I know its not software,mine started doing this after a motherboard and gpu upgrade, I know have a go7800 card. I think it could be caused by my power brick as i have read that the 7800 as well as the 6800 ultra need a more powerfull power brick and mine was never upgraded, But this dosent explain your problem unless you upgraded to 6800ultra, but it might be a sign of your power brick failing,

It could also be following but have not seen these problems with the 98XX
1. LCD Back Light going bad
2. LCD itself going out
3. Inverter going bad

Does anyone know how check to see if the LCD cable needs to be reseated? How would I open it? I think it is somewhere by the keyboard.

Fixed it!!! All it was, is that the LCD cable needed to be reseated!!! All is well...!

Lol, it sure did. To the poster that said he has the same problem, check the LCD cable...it may need to be re-seated.
