***PRE SALES*** HP DV6000Z or DV6000T???

Hello-

I'm trying to decide between the HP DV6000Z or the DV6000T but I do have a basic question before I get started here. Will I get longer battery life with a AMD processor verses a Intel processor? Keep in mind whether I chose AMD or Intel, I would be getting a dual-core processor and I will be doing a CTO model, not a retail store model. I would prefer a machine that gives me as much battery power as possible between charges, I know that Intel machines these days suck up battery power (I have this problem with my current machine and I'm trying to avoid it with my next purchase). Now here are my concerns regarding both models (in the subject line of this thread)!

DV6000Z (AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core):

!.) For the graphic card choices it lists the NVidia GeForce Go 6150, NVidia GeForce Go 6150 WITH productivity ports (yes I know what those are) and finally the 256MB NVidia GeForce Go 7200 (which is the h ighest model out of the three cards to chose from! Does the 256MB card also include the additinal productivity ports? Because it's not listed when configuring. I can't imagine how they would give you additinal productivity ports for the 6150 but not for the 7200??? Can somone please confirm this?

2.) For the battery choices, I would either be chosing a 6 cell or a HIGH CAPACITY 6 cell lithium ion battery. I wanted to make sure, if I chose the HIGH CAPACITY 6 cell lithium ion battery, will the battery still be FLUSH with the bottom of the notebook or will it stick out like the 12 cell battery does? Because that I don't want...

Moving on to the next model...

DV6000T (Intel Core 2 Duo):

1.) Once again I have the same graphic card question like I did with the DV6000Z model. The choices are Intel graphics media ccelerator 950 (Celeron), Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 (Core) WITH additional productivity ports and finally, the 256MB NVidia GeForce Go 7400. Once again they fail to list the 7400 card includingg additional productivity ports, which I can't possibly understand. It's the highest card choice out of all 3, yet there are no extra ports??? Again, can someone confirm this?

2.) Once again the same question regarding the battery, regular 6 cell or the HIGH CAPACITY 6 cell, will the HIGH CAPACITY 6 cell be flush with the bottom of the notebook or will it stick out like the 12 cell batteryy does?

Now regarding either model that I chose. I understand that HP includes a program that lets you burn your own recovery disks when you first boot up the computer for the first time (I think that's really cheap when they can spend 5 cents and include them but whatever...I'm just one tiny little voice out of millions). Anyways...I will create them, even though I would be ordering the Vista backup CD and drivers CD media just to have them.

1.) Does the reformat and reinstall of Vista work the same as it did with XP?

2.) If I do decide to do a clean install by reformatting and reinstalling Vista and I able in the future to return the notebook to the factory condition that I received it in if need be? The important part of this is will it automatically create that 'extra partition' that QuickPlay uses or will that be lost forever? I don't want to have to do anything manual regarding this extra parition for QuickPlay...frankly I hate the feature, I think it's stupid and it makes life complicated for advanced users who want to do clean installs on their system, from what I have heard if you do it, you will never be able to use QuickPlay again, unless you send the system back to HP and have the factory reset it back. I have a Dell Inspiron E1705 that has the "MediaDirect" button (does the same thing as HP's QuickPlay", but I really don't care for the feature and didn't care, so I just wipped everything, did my clean install and have been happy ever since. Anyways I was just wondering about all of this, becausee one of the biggest issues with HP these days has been their QuickPlay software and warnings against doing clean installs, so I just want to know how this works UPFRONT before I start digging into it and regret choices that I make.

3.) I am aware that I should also burn a copy of the "SWSetup folder", before doing ANYTHING...no problem!

And finally, is Vista stable enough to be using it? I hear nothing but absolute horror stories that Vista has so many bugs, that it still should not have been released in January when it was. I don't think there is one person that I know, who has Vista who doesn't hate it and who doesn't have problems with it on a daily basis.

Thanks everyone for your help on these questions!

Oh yeah one more thing...since I can't seem to edit my own post. I see that both the DV6000Z and the DV6000T only comes with the 32 bit version of VISTA, why I haven't a clue, why no choice??? Anyways if I wanted to at a later time, could I upgrade or replace my 32 bit version of VISTA with a 64bit version of VISTA on my machine and would it be compatible with the hardware in the machine? Or does the hardware in the machine have to be '64bit only'?

Again thanks!

Why on earth would you want the 64 bit version of vista? Most programs and apps are designed to work with the 32 bit version as are games! As for my choice, I'd rather have the Intel processor than the amd version as its some faster.
