Acer Aspire 3680 Touchpad Not Working

I just got this Laptop on MONDAY and this morning I turn it on and my touchpad isn't working. None of the buttons do anything, the scroll does nothing...and no matter how much I move my fingers on the pad...the cursor doesn't move. The only way I'm getting around it now is cause I have a graphics tablet that has a mouse.

I abhor tech support...they'll probably either tell me to open it up or send it somewhere. Is there any kind of troubleshooting I can do before I go last resort?

Did you turn the touch pad off accidentally? To turn it back on just hit Function+F7 If that didn't work, go to Device Manager, Mice and other pointing devices, properties and check the status. If its OK, reinstall the driver, and power off the machine and reboot. If there are no drivers visible during a reinstall, download them from the Acer website. If all the above don't work, take it back.

easy that was! In the future save some grief and read the user manual. Its got more pictures that writing so it'll just take a few minutes.

We have the same problem, but it is not the f7 key.  We can push it and it tells us that the touchpad is on, but it is still not working.  Will an external mouse allow me to access the control panel to look for drivers?  We can't do system restore because it gets to a point that we have to click a tab and we can't move the curser.   Thanks for your input.
